The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) is a Cincinnati art museum that focuses on new developments in traditional art styles, photography, architecture, performance art and new media. When the CAC recognized a need to reinvigorate their wayfinding system, our team was tasked to develop a cohesive system that would guide visitors seamlessly through the building designed by famous architect Zaha Hadid. Our signage spans all six floors of the museum, and guests experience new signage from the moment they enter.
Wayfinding icons are constructed from the foundational CAC logo elements of the slash and the letter “C.” The custom font was constructed using Gotham as the base.
The suite was developed with accessibility in mind – all emergency signage is 504 compliant and includes braille lettering, and all type was optimized for legibility, so all guests feel welcome in the galleries.
